The 40-foot red
carpet at the historic Avalon Theater
Hollywood was vibrant and filled with
excitement on November 14th, 2013, at
the 7th Annual Hollywood F.A.M.E.
Awards and 23rd Annual Los Angeles
Music Awards. High-profile members of
international press, television, motion
picture and music industries were in
attendance. Paparazzi and on-looking
spectators converged to capture a shot
and a glimpse of the many film,
television and music celebrities, to
include Stevie Hawkins with his
daughter Deanna, Victor Orlando and
Miles Grayson, as they made their way
down the carpet.
The MeTV
televised event hosted by
comedian-actor Robert Burton, opened
its program with a sensational live
performance by Stevie Hawkins,
performing alongside famed record
producer Miles Grayson on keys, and
Hollywood F.A.M.E. Lifetime Achievement
Award recipient and Grammy nominated
percussionist Victor Orlando.
As expected,
Hawkins, Orlando and Grayson absolutely
soared at the awards ceremony as they
brought down the house by playing
outrageously funky and infectious
grooves to the hits "Bam" and
"Good Times", from Hawkins'
album "What The Funk?".

Onstage (and off), it was obvious good times were
being had by all as the trio energetically delved
deep into party and backyard-BBQ territory for the
gourmet dinner audience. Hawkins, the man known as
the (Funkmaster), fueled the funk engine during the
high-octane numbers with a tank full of searing
soulful vocals and drumming mastery. Victor
Orlando, a former member of (War) and (The Gap
Band) injected impact into the set with a dynamite
display of percussion virtuosity and showmanship,
while Miles Grayson intensely rounded out the
curves of the funk-tacular landscape with his
performance on the keys. Hawkins and Orlando closed
the set with an ultra-rhythmic drums and conga solo
extravaganza that drew an exuberant standing
ovation from the sold-out Avalon Theater.
The
after-effect was evident as fans, celebrities, and
industry professionals were buzzing about the
trio's most impressive performance. Famous
choreography, actor and dancer Lacy Darryl Phillips
(Ain't Misbehavin-The Wiz-Mariah Carey) quoted,
"Wow, Stevie Hawkins, Victor Orlando, and
Miles Grayson? What an incredible match up. This is
music history".
According to the event producers, the performance
by Stevie Hawkins and Victor Orlando was the first
time in the twenty-three year history of the LA
Music Awards that a nominee and recipient was
joined onstage by a Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards
recipient to perform.
Hawkins, a Funk/Soul/R&B artist, was nominated
for the "Urban Music Artist" award among
4 other contenders, Wadell Jones, Sedona Music
Group, Cliff Beach, and Richie Alexander. As the
winner was announced toward the close of the awards
ceremony, Hawkins received the honor.
"When Al Bowman announced my name as the
recipient, I was both pleasantly surprised and
stoked. The event was well produced, entertaining,
and a great and enjoyable experience. I had a blast
performing with Victor Orlando and Miles Grayson.
The show went really well, they are true pros. I’m
grateful to Victor and Miles for consenting to
perform with me, the fans and industry panel who
voted for me, co-writer Charlotte Hannon, LA Music
Awards executive producers Al Bowman and Susanna
Griffie, my children Deanna, Justin and Miranda,
Momma Peggy and Daddy Bill, everyone who puts great
energy into the world of making music, and most of
all God for His abundance of Blessings", said
Hawkins at the close of the event.
This
is Hawkins third time as a LA Music Awards
recipient. In 2012, he garnered "Record of the
Year" and "Mark Vigil Male
Singer/Songwriter" accolades for his album
"What The Funk?". The album reaped a
third trophy at the 2012 LA Music Awards for
Charlotte Hannon "Executive Producer of the
Year".

Band, Lannie Flowers, Mahkenna, MK Ultra,
Giuseppina Torre, Calico The Band, and the stellar
